You can select movie chapters, tracks and scenes if you want to extract only those parts of the DVD. If you have previously copied the contents of a DVD to a folder on your hard drive, then that folder can also be used as the source. If your PC does not have a DVD drive then you can also use an external USB DVD drive as they are easily available from Amazon and work as good as internal DVD writers.
